La Consulta, Mendoza - Argentina

In the 1880s, Juan Giol, Bautista Gargantini and Pascual Toso arrived from Europe looking for new opportunities, full of dreams. The history of the province remembers these families as the Argentine viticulture pioneers.
In the desire to look for the best terroir of Mendoza, they discovered the appropriate and propitious place for the cultivation of grapevines in San Carlos. Finally, in 1930 they decided to found San Polo winery in La Consulta in honor of San Polo Di Piave castle in Italy.

La Consulta is a winemaking region that is in the department of San Carlos, located in the Center Oasis of Valle de Uco, bordered by the river Tunuyán, at the foot of the magnificent Cordón del Plata and crowned by the Cerro Tupungato.  Located over 1000 meters above the sea level, it is considered one of the best terroir in Argentina. The altitude of the area and the big differences in temperature meet the conditions that are unique in the world, and they guarantee healthy grapevines, perfect ripening and fruit concentration, with an ideal development of aromas, textures and tastes.
