“By keeping our roots, we follow our traditions. We have committed ourselves to produce top-quality wines, developing our genuine Monastrell grape variety” – Daniel Castano

Bodegas Castaño is one of the most important wine growers in South-Eastern Spain, they are most notable for their use of the indigenous grape variety Monastrell, also known as Mouvedre or Mataro. They own over 500ha of vineyards, split into four main vineyards spread across the Yecla appelation.

MONASTRELL is a variety which is perfectly adapted to the climate and soil conditions of Yecla, due to the fact that it is able to bear the extreme differences in temperature from winter to summer and endure the long periods of drought, when its development and yield decrease considerably.
